San Andreas Air National Guard - Fort Zancudo Airbase

Overview of the San Andreas Air National Guard (SAANG)
The San Andreas Air National Guard (SAANG), operating out of Fort Zancudo, serves as the primary defense and surveillance force responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of San Andreas' airspace. The installation is located on the western coast and has long been recognized as a strategic military hub for the state. Fort Zancudo, known for its fortified defenses and advanced technologies, has been at the forefront of air defense for decades.

The SAANG functions as the state’s primary defense force in collaboration with its North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) counterpart, managing the security of both domestic and international airspace. Special attention is given to monitoring potential threats originating from volatile regions such as Cayo Perico, where foreign incursions and illegal smuggling activities remain constant concerns. Equipped with state-of-the-art Long Range Radar Detection Systems, SAANG can swiftly detect, track, and respond to any aerial threats.

In addition to its military duties, SAANG is contracted by the state to handle all State Air Traffic Control functions. This responsibility includes the monitoring and management of commercial, private, and military air traffic throughout the region, ensuring the safety and efficiency of air operations across San Andreas.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Air Defense & Long Range Radar Detection
SAANG is tasked with maintaining air defense and providing rapid responses to any airborne threats. Long-range radar systems are in place to detect unidentified or foreign aircraft, with a particular focus on volatile regions like Cayo Perico. Any suspicious activity detected in San Andreas’ airspace is immediately addressed by deploying interception teams.

  2. State Air Traffic Control (ATC) Monitoring
The San Andreas Air National Guard plays a crucial role in monitoring and controlling air traffic within the state. Contracted by the government, SAANG oversees the flow of commercial, private, and military aircraft throughout the region. Utilizing its radar systems and trained personnel, SAANG ensures all flights adhere to regulations, manage restricted zones, and respond to emergencies, maintaining a secure and organized airspace.

  3. Foreign Threat Interception
Acting in cooperation with NORAD, SAANG is responsible for intercepting any foreign or unidentified aircraft that breach San Andreas’ airspace. The SAANG is particularly focused on threats from volatile areas such as Cayo Perico, where illegal aircraft operations often attempt to evade detection. Specialized teams are always on standby to respond to any incursions.

  4. Flight Training and Licensing
In an agreement with the state of San Andreas, SAANG provides flight training and licensing services to all aspiring pilots in the region. Certified Private and Commercial flight instructors are part of the SAANG, offering advanced training programs that ensure a high standard of aviation safety. The SAANG has been contracted to oversee the licensing process for all pilots, ranging from private aviation enthusiasts to commercial pilots, utilizing its aircraft and flight simulators.

Fleet of the San Andreas Air National Guard:

  • AVG-426 "Avenger"
The AVG-426 Avenger is a multi-role fighter jet designed for rapid response and interception. It plays a key role in handling air defense duties, particularly in responding to foreign threats from regions such as Cayo Perico.

Support to Federal Agencies
Fort Zancudo serves as a key location for multiple federal agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Bureau of Firearms, Alcohol, and Narcotics (USBFAN). SAANG provides air support, secure storage, and logistical assistance for federal operations conducted from the base. This collaboration ensures that federal agencies have the aviation resources needed to execute high-priority missions both within and outside the state.

Out of Character Information:

Mission Statement
The San Andreas Air National Guard (SAANG) faction exists to provide an immersive and detailed aviation roleplay experience within the FiveM community. Focusing on air defense, air traffic control, and military aviation operations, SAANG offers players a unique opportunity to engage in specialized aviation scenarios, enhancing overall roleplay quality.

SAANG also plays a crucial role in supporting other government factions by providing air-based support for operations. Whether it’s through air defense, reconnaissance, or rapid deployment, SAANG’s involvement ensures realism and depth in scenarios that require aerial assistance.

State Air Traffic Control Operations
SAANG has been created to manage and oversee all air traffic control operations within San Andreas. This includes monitoring commercial flights (Utilizing our Flight Radar System), private aviation, and military aircraft, ensuring the safety and organization of air traffic across the state. SAANG controllers manage restricted airspace and handle emergency responses, ensuring all air operations are conducted smoothly and within state regulations. We've selected this "Faction" to serve an extended realistic role within our lore so that it creates an enticing faction to uplift a usually stagnant area of roleplay.

Flight Training & Licensing
In addition to military duties, SAANG provides comprehensive flight training for individuals seeking private or commercial pilot licenses. Certified instructors within SAANG offer high-quality training programs to ensure all pilots in San Andreas meet the necessary safety and proficiency standards. This training and licensing process is part of an agreement between the state of San Andreas and SAANG, using SAANG’s assets to equip pilots with the skills needed to operate safely in state airspace. As stated before, We've used SAANG as the pilot training and licensing mechanic within our lore so that we complete a system that offers far more than a passive roleplay experience!

Aircraft Interdiction
While the interdiction of aircraft, especially smuggling planes from volatile regions like Cayo Perico, will be part of SAANG’s operational capacity, this will be conducted under strict guidelines and far from a the "go-to" response. Both in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) rules will limit the overuse of air interdiction to maintain balanced and fair roleplay interactions. The goal is to enhance roleplay experiences, not disrupt them. The use of munitions on unidentified aircraft is strictly prohibited unless authorized by the Governor (Weapons do not function unless turned on by a Senior Administrator with Management approval)

Players joining the SAANG faction will be part of a highly specialized roleplay environment, providing a wide range of aviation scenarios, from air traffic control and pilot training to military defense and federal support operations, fitting our unique Cayo Perico implementation!
